Rainbow Fabric Quilted Scarf

This is the scarf I designed for a family member as a Xmas present. I have a lot of scraps and decided to use the whole color palette.  

I ironed in between seams before stitching them with matching thread.

I did a fancy stitch in between each seam not only for looks but to make the seams stronger.

I had to lay them out on the bed to see what colors I was going to use . Each scrap was ironed too. Some scraps didn't make it to final cut.

I used fleece for the inside and did the same with the joining seams.

Here's a picture of sections-white, black and gray. Batman with skeletons and Day of the Dead Sugar Skulls.

Brown, yellow and orange section.

Red, pink and purple section. You see that cute Casper part?

Blue and green section with the Justice League on the left.

I made this shirt for my dad for Xmas. I saw this fabric and right away bought for him. Bought the fabric at Joann's Fabric.

Joker Costume Part 2

I had written about this Joker costume I made back in the 90's here  I wanted to update it since now there is a pattern for it. There are many tutorials on how to make it and I give some details in my previous blog but I will give more details here.

You can just buy the Simplicity pattern which includes everything except the spats.

You can also just buy the shirt and vest at a Goodwill store but the colors are hard to find. I bought my shirt at Goodwill and dyed it. I bought a baggy pants (Zootsuit pattern) for the pants and I bought a separate pattern for the jacket and the vest. Shoes can be bought at Goodwill. It depends on what you need. It also depends on what version of Joker you are going to do. Movie versions, cartoon, video games.

Craft Fair at Durham Community School

  I only do one craft fair a year and do it at my kid's old school. I did horrible last year just barely covering the cost of my table. I am happy to say I had the best year ever. I don't know if it was where my table was or the new way I set it up? I also wore samples in my hair and dressed up a bit.
Anyway, here is my table.

DIY Crochet Hook Organizer

I'm always trying to make my sewing room even more organized. I really didn't like the way I had my crochet hooks in a glass jar. I couldn't tell what number or letter hook  I had for my larger hooks and I also didn't like the jar method for my little hooks either.

I made mine different in that I just got a block of wood from my husband's wood pile instead of stacking a bunch of small pieces of wood. As you can see , I also painted it the same color as hers.

I saw a crochet hook organizer on etsy. They are very beautiful and awesome but did not have enough holes and the larger sized ones were too big and out of price range for me. So using my husband's drill press I made my own. I used a piece of scrap wood, 1 inch drill bit and spray painted the wood at the end. That was it.

Halloween 2018 Skeleton Pirate

This was the first year since having children that I didn't have anyone to take Trick or Treating or make a costume for. I was still going to dress up but nobody else did. They are all too old now. Next year I am going to hand out candy from this spot. I love Halloween and I don't care how old I am , I will still dress up. Maybe I should go to Cosplay conventions.

  I actually got the idea from Pirate of the Caribbean ride in Disneyland. Also some help from the Haunted Mansion. I can write this one up too if anyone is interested.

Mr. Freeze, Two Face, Catwoman and Riddler Halloween 2017

Too bad I couldn't find the hat and mask for Riddler but Mr. Freeze and  Two Face came out really well. I wish I could have shown you the video of it at night. His whole gun and back containers lighted up. Hubby killed the phone and lost the pictures and video. I will write up on how I did both costumes soon.
