Dead Pool Costume w/Wolverine

Here's the finished Deadpool costume(yes, I forgot the gloves. I'll get them before Halloween).
I even made a double holster for his swords that criss cross on his back. Can't see the belt since its right on his black pants. A lot of work reshaping the hood. I finished this costume right before the school Halloween party. Glad I'm done sewing for Halloween.

Dead Pool Costume

Here's the progress on it from last week. The belt, shirt and hood. My son doesn't want me to make the pants -he just wants to wear his black jeans. I free drew the shirt's black parts just by looking at the toy figure. I did use the pj pattern for the top. I also used my catwoman pattern to make the hood. The belt ,I drew up a pattern and he wants me to add another type of belt thing to his wrists. That's a maybe.

Tribaret Bra

Project Level-Intermediate to Advance
Project List- Underwire Bra
Fabric for the outside and inside
Beads Strung already
Coin Necklaces
Hooks-Real good ones
Beads -glass Beading
Thread Beading Needle
Gold Trim
I've made a coin bra before. To see how to take apart and cover a bra go to people.tribe.net/erikaschi...8bd4791ec9
has lots and lots of links I worked on this bra for about 3 months. After taking apart and covering it, I added the layer of already strung beads to the front. I did an extra stringing of the beads just as a precaution. I then started hand stitching the gold trim on top of the strung beads. After looking at it- it was too empty so I hand beaded glass beads to the trim. I then added the cabachons and hand beded those. This is what took so long to do. I then hand stitched the necklaces on the bottom of the cups. I got those at Goodwill for a 1.00 each. I added the straps after the cups where done. I will have to redo them since I made them too small. I added big hooks on the back. This is very important so your costume stays in place. I can't wait to wear this to a show someday. It matches my Hakama pants too.

Marvel Halloween Costumes

My boys have decided on their costumes. The 7 year old wanted to be Wolverine so sadly it is easier to buy the costume than make it. I even bought him some claws for it. This is the yellow comic book costume.
The 11 year old wants to be comic book Deadpool. Why? Wolverine movie or maybe the Wolverine cartoons we have. I was surprised because he doesn't know the character very well. (I do but that's because I'm a comic book fan).I will have to draw up a pattern and make his costume from scratch. No pattern or costume for Deadpool is available.
So I already bought some red knit but will need to buy more. I will probably use a pj pattern for this too.
Oh boy now they will have a reason to fight.

Now if I could only get the 17 year old to do Sabertooth from the movie.

Hakama Pants

Project Level - Easy to Moderate Easy
Project List-
1.Depending how tall you are 4 1/2 to 5 1/2 yards of your choose of fabric.
2.2 1/2 inch wide elastic
3.Measuring tape

Pattern measurements-List on bottom
I wanted a new look for pants besides harem/pantaloons and add some martial arts look to a costume I was going to wear for a bo staff belly dance piece. I found these modified Hakama pants pattern that would be great for my new costume.

What are Hakama pants?http://www.japanesekimono.com/japanese_pants.htm

Traditional Japanese Hakama pants are worn today by Martial artists or in traditional Japanese ceremonies, etc.
I saw this pattern here and modified it.
It has this long tie around which I took apart and redid an elastic waistband instead.
The waist band is about 3 inches wide with 2 1/2 inch wide elastic.

I also sewed it up on the sides where traditionally the sides aren't sewn all the way up.
They are quite easy to sew up and the pleats on this modified one are easy. Traditional Hakama pants have a back board on them.

I wasn't interested in getting this technical with it. I just omitted this and I think this pattern doesn't even have a section to add to it.

The pleats are easy but they also mean something.

I plan on making another pair sometime.
