Fabric Addiction

Okay, so I caved in on Wednesday and bought some remnants for pillowcases. I couldn't help it as it was cheap and yes, I will use it soon. I quess will power can only do for so long but I have used quite a few yards of my fabric stash. I have gone through many spools of thread too. If buying 3 yards of fabric in 2 months and I've used probably like 20 yards from the stash that isn't too bad, right?

Jello Ice Cream

In my quest to find everything you can make with jello , I found this. Jello Ice Cream. From Come Together Kids she made this delicious treat. My son is majoring in chemistry would love this. I actually bought him some Chemistry glass ware and I bet he would love eating colored jello ice cream out of them.
Anyway, I love the adding of just vanilla ice cream to the jello. Yup, that's it. I love her way of serving them  in home made science cups. I would check out her website for more cool recipes for you or you and your kids to make.

Jello Cookies?

From I heart Nap time I saw this and thought I could have my kids make this. I'm sure my youngest(the cook) would love to do this himself. I am still waiting to do the rainbow jello in a mason jar.
Very nice website with many other ideas and her photos are lovely. I recommend to check this site out.

How to Make a Tie

After having my son make us run around for a tie for a dance, I thought maybe in the future if anyone needs one, I could make one. Well here are some helpful sites with patterns on how to make one. Maybe you could make one for Father's Day.

From Purlbee.com  Comes with not only instructions but a nice pattern.

How to Organize Fabric Scraps

All of us have them. From seamstress, crafters, quilters, etc. we all do it. Now here are some ways to organize, get rid and use them.

From St Louis Folk Victorian-using mason jars.

From Pleasant Home
Does your scrap pile look like this?
Tips from the Queen of DIY

From JayBird Quilts
From Quiltville this is a very detailed way and very informative for quilters. Highly recommend.
This is a very creative way to store fabric scraps but I'm using my cassette holder to hold actual cassettes. From Tony Staab.

This is how I store my fabric scraps. I put them by color in a shoe holder. I've weeded down this since I started making quilts for Xmas. I go through ever six or so months and take out stuff I haven't used. I mostly just keep cotton scraps but keep also brocade and some lace fabric for bags, bracelets and of course my patchwork skirts. More photos of my sewing room here. Right now it doesn't look like this as I have my son's entire closet in a basket as I am redoing and decluttering my whole house.

This is another project beside using all the fabric I have , I want to use all the scraps I have by the end of the year.
I know it sounds silly but I want to see how it would all look if I actually used everything I have.

June Sewing Project Challenge

May was great as I made a lot of progress. I didn't buy a stitch of fabric, craft or yarn for new projects. I did have  to buy burgundy thread and 4 inches of glitter dot fabric to finish a belt. I also had to buy interfacing, white flannel and terry cloth because I was almost out and can't sew diapers.
I did go a bit crazy and bought some new sewing feet for both my sewing machines and serger. I didn't count that for my sewing challenge. I'll blog later about what type of accessory feet I bought.
This month I bought a half a yard of pillow fabric which I didn't need but I was good last month and come on-you can only go so long without buying a little piece.

This month's challenges:
1. Not buy anymore fabric/yarn/craft stuff for jewelry or hair accessories unless it is to finish a project or/and a custom order.
2. Finish my list of projects for this month.(List is on the side of my blog).
3. If I finish my projects for this month , I can start one new project.

One of my goals is to use up all the fabric I have by the end of the year.
Some of my goals I had planned earlier this year -I haven't done like my son's hoodie, belly dance costumes and I
looked and decided to make the top that I had earlier decided not to do.
Beginning of the year challenges.

Let me know what you have challenges for this month.
