Riddler Costume Part 2

Jacket:
Here is how I did the jacket. I bought a green jacket at Goodwill. It was the cheapest way to go. I looked at buying a suit on ebay and they were too expensive. I printed out some question marks from this applique here. I used cotton black fabric, black interfacing and then heat bond . After ironing them I then  had to cut out each question mark and iron it on the jacket. I was going to do green pants then didn't have the time. I might improve on this costume for next year.

Hat
I then ironed on one on the hat and added a purple ribbon around. Bought this hat at the dollar store during weeks before St. Patrick's Day.
Monty Fam 6 sells them on etsy.

Tie
I also bought the tie at Goodwill. You can iron a question mark on it but I decided not to.
There are many vendors on etsy who sell them.

Mask
Bought it off etsy from Nokturnel Eclispe

Cane
Used a wooden letter S and shaped it to a ? mark. Painted it silver, cane part black.

Skull and Bones Wreath

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

• 2 3’ Tall Posable Skeletons
• Small Screw Driver
• Small Hack Saw or Craft Saw
• Medium Grit Sandpaper
• Strong Thick Quick Setting Adhesive
• 4” x 6” Slate Sign
• Chalk or Chalk Marker
• Spiders and Spider Webbing

DIRECTIONS:

Refer to photo for bone placement.
Follow manufacturer’s directions and allow adhesive to set up completely.

Use a small screw driver to take apart skeletons; leave one set of hands attached to forearm bones.

Use a small saw to cut off joint hinges and spine below rib cage.

Where necessary, sand edges smooth with sandpaper.

If desired, fill holes with thick adhesive.

Lay skull with rib cage on a flat surface; place bones around in a 14’ – 16” circle.

Beginning with the shoulders, carefully glue bones together.

Use chalk or permanent chalk marker to write desired words onto slate sign.

Firmly adhere sign to bottom portion of wreath.

Adhere hands and forearms as if holding sign.

Place spiders and webbing as desired.

How to make a Spider Dog Costume

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

• Spider costume patterns
• 1 pkg Feltables felt in black
• 1 pkg 9" x 12" Darice Craft Fur in black
• 2 pkgs of Jumbo Chenille Stems in black
• 1 pkg 30" x 5/8" Sew On Soft & Flexible Velcro® in black
• Small bag of Poly-Fil
• Sewing machine
• Basic sewing supplies

DIRECTIONS:

1. To print the patterns, click on the "Download Project PDF" button (above).
2. Using pattern pieces, trace and cut spider base out of felt and spider body out of fur.
3. Cut chenille stems into 6 21" pieces. Using spider base pattern as a guide, place chenille stems onto base. Using a whip stitch, hand sew each piece onto base, with 2" of each stem overlapping onto the felt.
4. With chenille "legs" facing up, lay the wrong side of the fur on top of the felt base. Using sewing machine, attach the two pieces together by topstitching around the entire body, leaving a 2" opening at the bottom. Be careful sewing around "legs" - hand cranking the wheel may be necessary to avoid breaking the needle.
5. Stuff spider with enough Poly-Fil to fill out the two segments of the body. Sew opening closed by machine.
6. Cut Velcro® into 2 2" pieces. Sew each piece onto the neck and chest strap of costume by machine.
7. Fold each leg in half (6" from the end) and twist together. Make a 1" bend at the bottom to create "foot." Bend each Leg in the middle to create "knee."

Spider web High tops

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

• Tulip® One-Step Tie-Dye Kit®: Black
• Tulip® Soft® Fabric Paint: Purple Glow
• Tulip Dimensional Fabric Paint: Natural Glow
• White canvas high top Sneakers
• Cosmetic sponge
• Plastic cups for mixing dye
• Disposable plastic surface cover

DIRECTIONS:

1. Wash and dry shoes to remove any sizing.
2. Mix dye according to package directions. Pour a small amount into plastic mixing cup and add water to create a light gray shade.
3. Working on covered work surface, use cosmetic sponge to dab gray dye randomly over sneakers.
4. Add additional Black dye to cup to create dark gray shade. Dab dye over sneakers again. Allow sneakers to set 6-8 hours.
5. Wash and dry sneakers. Use cosmetic sponge to randomly dab Purple Glow Soft Paint over sneakers. Allow to dry.
6. Use dimensional Natural Glow paint to draw “spider webs” on sides of sneakers. Allow to dry.

Doily Web Hoop

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

• 12" embroidery hoop
• Doily of choice
• Black poms
• Black chenille stems
• Green hemp or floss
• Black ribbon
• Black acrylic paint
• Foam brush
• Scissors

DIRECTIONS:

1. Separate hoops. Paint both sections of the hoop black and allow to dry.
2. String the doily onto the inner hoop with green hemp or floss.
3. Place inner hoop inside the larger hoop and tighten the screw.
4. Cut an 8" length of black ribbon and tie onto the screw for hanging.
5. Cut 4 chenille stems in half. Glue 2 poms together and the center of the stems under the larger pom to make a spider.
6. SCut a 6" length of hemp or floss. Glue one end to bottom of the spider, and tie the other end to the hoop.

Pretty Bat Mask

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

• Tulip® Dimensional Fabric Paint -- Black
• 16"x16" black tulle
• Waxed paper
• Tape
• Paper towel
• Scissors
• Pattern
• 1/4" black ribbon (1 yd)

DIRECTIONS:
1. To print the pattern, click on the "Download Project PDF" button (above) and tape waxed paper over pattern.
2. Tape tulle over waxed paper, to cover waxed paper and entire pattern.
3. Shake paint bottle to be sure there are no air bubbles in the tip.
4. Practice drawing lines on a paper towel, being careful not to drag tip of bottle on the paper towel, for smooth lines.
5. Trace lines of pattern with tip of paint bottle. Let dry completely.
6. Cut around edges of mask and inside the eyes, cutting through the waxed paper.
7. Carefully peel waxed paper off the back of the mask.
8. Cut a 1/4" slit on each side of the mask.
9. Cut ribbon into 2 pieces; poke ribbon through the slits on each side, and tie in a knot.
10. Place mask around face and tie in the back to complete.

Strung Bead Spider

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

• Black facetted round
• Black facetted rondelles
• Black AB large glass round
• Black 6/0 seed beads
• Black 20-gauge wire
• Orange 6/0 seed beads
• Orange glass oval beads
• Orange oval acrylic facetted beads
• Black 6/0 seed beads
• Wire cutters
• Round-nose pliers

DIRECTIONS:
1. Start by cutting an 8" piece of 20-gauge black wire and string on a large AB round glass bead and two smaller facetted black beads. Make a curlicue at the end of the Large AB round to hold that side in place.
2. On the “head" end, wrap the black wire underneath the body and wrap the wires between the two smaller black beads a few times. Leave a bit of slack between all three “body" beads, about 1/8", as this is where the legs will be wired on.
3. Cut four 12" pieces of black wire. Find the middle and wrap this around the body segment to wire on the first leg. Add three more pieces of wire in this manner.
4. Add beads to each leg as shown in the photo, and make a small curlicue at the end of each leg to secure the beads.

DIRECTIONS:
Ring
1. Cut metal loop off of top of Oct 31 Charm.
2. Cut metal loop off of top of Ghost Charm.
3. Using sand paper or a metal file, sand off any rough patches left behind from the metal loops.
4. Glue ghost to front of Oct 31 charm. Let glue dry, approximately 10 minutes.
5. Lay combined ghost and Oct 31 charm face down and apply glue to underside of Oct 31 charm. Position preferred ring above charm at desired angle and press ring into glue.
6. Let glue dry thoroughly before wearing.

Bracelet
1. String faceted and round beads through head pins and make a loop at the top of each one as pictured.
2. Attach beads and charms to bracelet as pictured.

Skull Cameo Ring

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

• Cousin®:
  Black Lace Covered Accent (1 pk)
  4mm Black Bicones (1 pk)
  4mm Black Glass Rounds (1 pk)
• Stretch cord (8")
• Crimp Tubes (4 pc)
• Mod Podge® waterbase sealer
• E6000® Adhesive
• Paintbrush
• Wire cutters
• Crimping pliers
• Skull/design on paper

DIRECTIONS:
1. Trim the loops off of the black lace accent.
2. Apply the sealer to the center section of the accent, covering the lace. Brush the sealer onto the back of the printed design.
3. Adhere the paper onto the center of the accent. Press the paper down to keep it smooth along the curve of the accent. Brush additional sealer on top of the paper and continue to smooth the edges down.
4. Let the sealer dry, if the paper is not completely smoothed down while it' still tacky, brush on more sealer and smooth the paper down.
5. Allow the sealer to dry.
6. Apply a ring of glue along the edge of the center of the accent.
7. Place the bicones along the glue line, keeping a tight oval shape.
8. Apply an additional thick layer of sealer.
9. Let the glue and sealer dry.
10. Cut two 4" lengths of stretch cord.
11. Using crimp tubes, attach the two cords to the loops on one side of the accent.
12. Thread 12 beads onto each strand (or more for a comfortable fit).
13. Attach the cords to the other side of the accent loops using the remaining crimp tubes. Trim the excess cord.

"I ended up making 5 of them in an afternoon. The wings were easy -- just some floral wire, tissue paper, glue, and some paint. I burnt the edges with a candle flame. They are hot-glued to the spine and shoulders.

And, I gave them a little tail with some twine. The horns are made from shaping Hot-Glue with my wet fingers. A little dot of red glitter glue for the eyes, and they're ready to fly!"

Skulls and Bones Chandelier

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

• Large skull
• Small skulls (10)
• Large bones (8)
• Small bones (3)
• Blue Moon 24" Metal Chain (2 pkg.)
• Paints: white, off white. gray, tan, brown, black
• Paint tray & water
• 1" & 1/2" paintbrushes
• Natural sponge
• Craft knife
• 11 flameless LED tea lights (11)
• Toothpicks
• Super glue gel and/or hot glue gun & sticks
• 1" cup hooks (2)
• 1/2" cup hooks (6)
• Spiders & spider webbing

DIRECTIONS:

Two coats of paint may be needed. Allow paint to dry thoroughly between each coat and color.
Tooth picks are used for positioning and adding strength to chandelier.

1. Carve off jaw of large skull below the top teeth to create a separate jaw.
2. Cut of ends of 2 large bones so that only 5-6 inches is left to create the spine.
3. Carve out rivets to create a spine look then glue 2 pieces together
4. Paint skulls and bones as desired; refer to photo.
5. Using tea light as guide, cut a hole in the top of each skull approximately 1/2" deep with craft knife. Leave one skull uncut.
6. Use tooth picks to position spine at base of large skull.
7. Use tooth picks to position jaw bone and uncut small skull in place. Note: jaw bone “chin” will be touching spine piece.
8. Pull pieces apart slightly and glue in place with hot glue or super glue.
9. Glue 2 small skulls on top of spine behind large skull.
10. Layer 4 large bones into a square shape; secure and glue as above.
11. Glue small skulls to corners.
12. Layer 3 small bones into a triangle shape; secure and glue.
13. Glue small skulls to corners.
14. Screw 1" cup hook into top of large skull behind the tea light hole; secure with glue.
15. Screw 1" cup hook into bottom of spine; secure with glue.
16. Use tooth picks to position two remaining large bones at the corners of square bones approximately 4" up.
17. Use tooth picks to position large bones to spine sides.
18. Pull apart slightly and glue.
19. Screw 1/2" cup hooks into the backs of the small skulls on the triangle piece.
20. Separate the chain into 4 12" pieces.
21. Attach three pieces to the hook under the spine and hook to back of skulls.
22. Attach the remaining piece to the top for hanging.
23. Place tea lights in holes and place spiders and webbing as desired.

How To Make A Poison Ball Jar

• Quart-size plain, clear jar
• Small Styrofoam™ skull
• Paint for jar: Dark & Light Gray Concrete, Dark & Light Moss, Black & Light Gray Acrylic
• Paint for Skull: White, Ivory, Linen, Light Brown, Black
• White scribbles paint (3-D fabric paint)
• Sponge dauber
• Natural sponge
• Small detailing brush
• Small stippling brush
• Medium round brush
• Painter’s tape
• Spanish moss
• Fabri-Tac glue

DIRECTIONS:

Allow paints to dry thoroughly.
1. To print the patterns, click on the "Download Project PDF" button (above). Enlarge patterns.
2. Use painter’s tape to tape “poison” pattern to the INSIDE of the jar first, then tape the skull pattern in place above “poison”.
3. Use the Scribbles paint to thickly draw the designs onto the OUTSIDE of the jar.
4. Remove paper and tape from inside the jar and put the lid and cap on.
5. Use a natural sponge to daub on the dark and light concrete paint on all over the jar and lid for a mottled effect.
6. Use the stippling brush and black acrylic paint to shade around skull and “poison”.
7. Use the small detail brush and light gray acrylic paint to highlight surface of skull and “poison”.
8. Use the medium round brush and dark and light moss paint to create “dripping moss” effect.

Styrofoam Skull:
1. Use a round brush to paint the inside sockets of the eyes and nose black.
2. Use natural sponge to daub on white, ivory and linen paint on all over the skull for a natural bone effect.
3. Use the detailing brush and white and light brown acrylic to paint highlights onto skull.
4. Use the small detail brush and white acrylic to paint teeth, then use black acrylic to darken around spaces between the teeth as desired.
5. Glue skull on top of lid.

How To Make A Halloween Ribbon Wreath

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

• Styrofoam™ 14" Ring
• 50-ct. boxes of floral greening pins (3)
• 3 rolls of deco mesh ribbon 10" x 30ft. (3)
• 8 assorted Halloween-themed ribbon rolls in multiple sizes (8)
• Sissors

DIRECTIONS:

1. Cut sections of 1-1/2" x 10" lengths of the deco mesh ribbon from the rolls. The cuts do not have to be perfect. Gather the mesh the base and poke a pin through it. Insert the pin into the Styrofoam™. Continue this pattern, cutting different sizes of mesh, placing randomly around the Styrofoam™ wreath.
2. Make ribbon loops with the wider ribbon. Insert the pin into the ribbon and poke it into the wreath.
3. For the thinner ribbon, cut off 6-8" sections of ribbon, fold in half, insert the pin in the middle and poke into the Styrofoam.
4. Continue the process of making ribbon loops and pieces until the wreath is full.

How To Make A Glow in the Dark Spider Web Necklace

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

• Tulip® Dimensional Fabric Paint: Glow Natural, Glow Green, Glow Pink
• 16" x 16" tulle
• Waxed paper
• Masking tape
• 1/4" ribbon – 1 yard
• Paper towels
• Scissors

DIRECTIONS:

1. To print the pattern, click on the "Download Project PDF" button (above).Tape down to flat surface.
2. Tape waxed paper over entire pattern.
3. Tape tulle over waxed paper, to cover entire pattern.
4. Shake paint bottle to be sure there are no air bubbles in the tip.
5. Practice drawing lines on a paper towel, being careful not to drag tip of bottle on the paper towel, for smooth lines.
6. Trace lines of web pattern with tip of Natural Glow paint bottle to create web. Fill in spider with Green Glow and center of spider with Pink Glow. Allow to dry completely.
7. Cut around edges of spider web, trimming excess tulle, cutting through the waxed paper.
8. Carefully peel waxed paper off the back of the spider web.
9. Cut a 1/4" slit on each end of the spider web.
10. Poke ribbon through the slits on each side and tie in a knot.
11. Place spider web around neck and tie in the back to complete necklace.

Black Pumpkin Fairy Garden

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

• Hot knife
• Hot glue gun & glue sticks
• Black foam pumpkin
• 8" x 8" block of white Styrofoam®
• Maker's Halloween™ resin door
• Maker's Halloween™ miscellaneous. figurines (6)
• Maker's Halloween™ Crow figurine
• Maker's Halloween™ Skull Pick
• Package Maker's Halloween™ trees
• Package variety moss

DIRECTIONS:

1. Using a hot knife, cut out a hole in the face of the pumpkin in desired shape and size.
2. Cut the Styrofoam® block to fit inside the pumpkin. Fill in the sides with random pieces of the Styrofoam until there is a nice base to place figurines on.
3. Secure the Styrofoam® to the pumpkin using hot glue.
4. Begin to place the Halloween figurines in desired locations inside the pumpkin. Working from the back of the pumpkin and moving forward, begin to hot glue the figurines and the moss to the Styrofoam base.
5. Add moss around the cut opening using the hot glue to attach it.

day of the dead skull

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

• Flat skull mask
• Flat brush
• Smaller rounded brush
• Bottle of black acrylic paint
• Bottle of white acrylic paint
• Assorted artificial flowers colors of choice
• Hot glue gun & glue sticks
• Wire cutters
• X-Acto® knife

DIRECTIONS:

1. Using the flat paintbrush and white paint, apply paint to the paper mache skull mask and allow it to dry.
2. Using the black acrylic paint and a dry brush, barely put any paint on the brush, rub excess off on a paper towel or scrap piece of paper and lightly paint around the eyes, openings and teeth.
3. Decide where to place the flowers around the crown of the mask.
4. With the wire cutters, trim the stems of flowers to about 5" in length.
5. Once the decision has been made as to where to place the flowers, use the X-Acto® knife and pierce holes to slide the stems through the mask.
6. Hot glue the stems from the inside of the mask to hold them in place

Halloween Fairy Garden

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

• Funkin Pumpkin
• Pumpkin carving knife
• Moss (variety)
• Resin Halloween figures
• Hot glue gun & glue sticks
• Scissors
• Disposable plastic containers (i.e. cottage cheese, yogurt)
• Sturdy paper plates (one each approximately 8-5/8" diameter & 6-5/8" diameter)
• Push pins
• Pencil

DIRECTIONS:

1. Pin the edge of the paper plate slightly under the stem of the pumpkin. Slit the paper plate about five times around the edges to allow it to lie flat on the curved pumpkin. Pin into place. Trace circle with a pencil, remove plate, and cut out the circle with the carving knife.
2. Build a platform inside the pumpkin by hot gluing the containers to the floor of the pumpkin. Build it to the level of the bottom of the opening, and tilted so the platform slopes forward slightly.
3. Hot glue moss to the back of the large paper plate, curve the plate slightly to insert it into the pumpkin opening and glue to the platform.
4. Hot glue moss around the pumpkin opening, inside the opening, and around the stem, allowing some to cascade down the pumpkin sides.
5. Attach resin figure, welcome sign, cat, and pumpkins with hot glue.
