Plague GothBall 2012 at the Asylum

Okay I lied on my last post about not being out in a long time. So this weekend I went both to Henry's and the Goth Ball events. Otherwise I have not been out and I think we need to get out more because there are such cool events to see and do.
Anyway, this was my second time here. I love that no one is judgemental, nasty or drunk at this party. Most everyone dresses up but the ren faire costumes where far and  few between but it is a hard costume to do(Hubby was a pirate and me pirate/wench/belly dancer/gypsy). I enjoyed watching people dance so does the hubby. We didn't do as much as we were tired from working(a lot these past 2 months) and hubby is still recovering from his illness.
When Diabolis In Musica came on, the dance floor really came alive.Fun, silly and great music made us perk our ears up. As they played their historical music 3 belly dancers danced in front of us. Each one lovely and I'm sorry to say , I don't remember their names. Each one did a solo and I loved the sword dance.Beautiful and graceful. The fan dance was fun and flirty. The last dancer was amazing with her twirls, drops and belly rolls. She was very earthy and bold.

We left before the costume contest. Just couldn't stay up longer as we wanted to eat at Denny's before heading home.I know we sound old but I found out you don't get tired more when you get older. No. It's because you have more to do than ever so of course you get tired faster than before.

Henry Rollins in Maine

My son and I went to see Henry last night at Cony High School. It was interesting waiting in line for the theatre to open. Interesting in that the last time I was in this theatre, I went to see my middle son play his trombone in the Maine Honors Band. I've also been here for a few blood drives but I won't revisit that now. I watched kids and adults come out of the gym from a sports game looking at the line and wondering what were we waiting for.

It's been a while since I've been out. My son was so excited because he hasn't been to a concert yet. Yeah, I know your saying what? Well, when you live in Maine you don't see many acts coming to Maine. Going to another state especially to the city of Boston takes a lot of time and money. He's too young to go to clubs(he's 20) so for him this was his first concert.

I loved how close we were to the stage. It was really awesome seeing him in person. You always wonder how people look outside of  the video screen. Well, Henry looks great. He tells his audience that people always tell him  he's not as big/tall as they thought he would be. He looked tall to me and yes, he's in awesome shape.(Okay, I'll stop there except for one last thing-yes, Henry is still smoking hot)!

Anyway, I so enjoyed the show never ever looking once at the clock because I didn't want it to end. I laughed so hard that I was hoping no one noticed a snort or two coming out of me.

Henry made a point about voting which I've always thought was important. When I turned 18, I was very excited to vote and have all these years. I always think of those people in countries where they can't. You and I have that privilege and should vote.

My son admires him(Henry, just like me and my son, doesn't drink, smoke or do drugs). He helped inspire my son to one day travel around the world(he was thinking about doing it already but this was way to get him moving more towards that goal). I am glad he's out there speaking with his twist of humor and experience in his show.

Here's an article about the show in Maine

I hope Henry comes back again.
Please come again, Henry!

Zombie Red Riding Hood

Link Here

I have recently told you that I was doing this costume for Halloween and the hubby a Werewolf. I have a picture of my recently finished costume. I didn't get a picture of the leggings, boots, skull braids and other fun extras.

This is the costume I made for my Zombie Red Riding Hood. Of course I recycled the skirt. I bought a petticoat on sale at JoAnn's. I added a skull lace to the bottom of the petticoat for added fufflyness. I made the top from Simplicity 4484 using pattern c. I made the length longer so it covered my torso.  I made the cape without a pattern and I think it came out alright. I didn't want it too long. Here's a link on how to make one.

Here are my props. I bought everything from the dollar store(except for the gingham fabric-joann fabrics).
I'll post pics of me in the costume

How to do Zombie/Dead girl Make up

This year I am going to be a Zombie/Dead girl Red Riding Hood. Couldn't figure out on the make up but I like this tutorial. Hubby is going to be a Werewolf on my leash. I will be showing you the finished costume soon. I am still working on the braids.
Here is the tutorial.
